Good and Evil

I am certain of the reality of good and evil. I can think of no better example of evil than the tragedy of September 11, 2001, when terrorists seized several passenger jet planes and forced them to fly into the World Trade Center in New York City, and into the Pentagon building in Washington DC. Thousands of lives were lost, and it was all done in the name of an evil religious cult. I have no other way to describe it. This is the reason for the Biblical quote at the beginning of this page: "By their fruits you will recognize them." - Matthew 7:16

Thus, I would appear to differ from many wiccans, pagans, and New Agers who aledge: there is no evil, there is no satan, there is no hell. And I certainly do not agree with those who say there is no difference between white and black magick.

We must draw lines in society and in magick between good and evil. And although that line may not always be perfectly clear, we can look at the "big picture" and we will know "By their fruits...", that is by the result of something, whether it was helpful overall (good), or harmful overall (evil). It isn't necessary to quibble about instances in between what is clearly good and what is clearly evil, because that is a rationalization.

And so it is that as far as magick is concerned (or most anything else you may be planning to do) *you know* whether or not it is intended for overall good. That is the test you would do to know in your heart that your intentions are good (or not).

If you were to plan a white magick act, it must pass this test (will the fruits of the act be for the overall good?). A purely selfish act, intended only to benefit yourself probably wouldn't qualify as white magick (gray magick perhaps). Remember, you get automatic magical protection and good karma points when you perform white magick. For any other kind of magick, the rules are different.
